Hi all. Appologies if this is covered under another topic, and feel free to delete this one if it is. how weasy would it be to code this idea. Say you want to follow a particular topic, there could be a check box at the bottom of that topic which when checked would alert you via email when someone added to that topic? I think it's called subscribing to a topic? thanks

That's a great idea! Then, I wouldn't have to make my favorites list sooo big! Hehehehe!

It's like they have on the BBC website. I remember defeating a spammer in that way. I subscribed him to 100 different topics which I thought would be popular, so every time someone posted thereto he was emailed. he never did that again! And the best thing was, he didn't know the password I'd given him so he could do nothing to alter the account settings! this was in the days before a link at the bottom of the page enabling one to unsubscribe was mandatory by virtue of the eU's E-commerce directive and the electronic Communications Act.

sounds like a wonderful idea to me, I could then subscribe to every topic I started, or to any topic I replied in, wonderful!

I too like it a lot. *smile* Makes scanning the boards every day a bit easier, and I think to make things even easier, if you don't want to know about a topic any longer. Say it's changed from what was interesting to you, we could have a combo box in our user options that would allow us to unsubscribe?

think Dobbin's hit a clean winner down the line into the empty court with this topic.

yes it's a good idea, and is available on message forums on lots of web sites.

likewise, I think it's a great idea. I was thinking along the same lines when I realised that this topic existed.

Yup. It's come up a few times on here. It's a bit of work, but we wanna do it at some point, perhaps when our new coding system is in place and we have more people helping out.

I like this idea as well, and do remember seeing it before. It'd be a nifty feature.

I like theidea changed to Topic watching. Then right h below th the how many private messages, it could say, "You have 3 replys to 3 topics. Then if you clikced on the link, it would show the ttopic. for exmpale in alfabetical order, and below it say "2 new replys since your last posting. This way you not only know which topics hae new replys, but you also know how many replys came to each topic since you poposted. John
